Webinar recording and book

On 30/11 we held a webinar on a new approach towards remote and distributed work. We presented key insights from a 2019 report commissioned from us by EIT Climate Kic and held an open discussion. Participants exchanged experiences of how their respective organisations are coping with the current situation. The documentation from the discussions is still being processed, but for those of you who missed the event, this is a recording of the main presentation:

During the small group discussions we identified pain points shared by many teams and organisations that are attempting to make the transition to semi-remote or even office-less work.

Some of these issues can be resolved by providing basic training to quickly develop new skillsets required for a smooth remote and semi-remote work experience.

Others require come down to making small changes in process or how existing tools are use.

In some cases, improving the situation requires adopting completely new management practices.

What we do know from our own experience as a distributed organisation that heavily relies on remote work, is that no two cases are identical and there is no one size fits all. Even though we have been doing this for a long time, we ourselves are constantly learning and updating our own practices.

What is needed is not maps (they quickly become outdated as the terrain changes). Rather it is a new framework and mindset that can help different teams and organisations successfully navigate current and future challenges.

The conversation is continuing in our online community forum right now. The wisdom contributed by all the participants is being distilled by the Edgeryders team into a set of easy-to-use resources.

First up, a new book!

It is a fast, and fun way to inspire people to shift to a possible-right-now future of work that is good for people, planet and business. This illustrated book will take the reader on an epic journey of discovery in 8 short steps.

To get a copy of "The Anywhere Organisations, an 8 step journey towards the future of work" book for free fill in this form with thoughtful responses.

Answers from this form will be used to inform the development of a forthcoming series of training materials and programs.

What is needed is not maps (they quickly become outdated as the terrain changes). Rather it is a common framework that can help different teams and organisations cocreate solutions that work well for them. And it all begins with adopting a new mindset....

The first of which is a short book hot off the press. We are sharing a free copy with everyone who contributes to moving our initiative forward by answering the questions below.

Please, tell us about the best remote work experience you had up to this point:

What are the most common problems/challenges you face with remote work in your organisation?

What is your role within your organisation - do you have a mandate or budget to invest in improving how your organisation does remote, distributed work?

What would be a reasonable budget for your team/organisation to put into lowering risk of burnout of staff?

What would engage you to make a financial contribution towards building an online training program on best practices for remote work and collaboration?

Do you want to schedule a short phone call to explore potential collaborations with Edgeryders and or other participants in the event?
